SUMMARY:Unruly Woman at Durham University
DESCRIPTION:Joachim Room\, College of St Hild and St Bede\, 6.15-7.30pm \n‘Unruly Woman’ will be performed as a public accessible part of the MEMSA conference. \nThis is a free event\, but if you would like to make an optional donation in aid of Harbour refuges\, you can do so while booking your place on the conference. \n‘Unruly Women’ is a one-woman storytelling show performed by Dr Daisy Black\, a Lecturer in English at Wolverhampton University. Daisy presents an indecorous assortment of medieval tales from around Europe about women who gain the upper hand – or\, occasionally\, the upper arse. These are stories of sex\, of disguise and deception\, and of women finding creative\, naughty and cunning ways to overcome the restrictions placed upon them by their gender and class. Interlacing medieval fabliaux and romance with bawdy folk songs\, this one-woman performance pays homage to literature’s original ‘nasty women’. The performance lasts for one hour and is suitable for ages 13 and up. \nThis performance is being run in aid of Harbour refuges\, County Durham\, Registered Charity Number 1086897\, 15 Whitburn Street\, Hartlepool\, TS24 7QR. Harbour works with families and individuals who have been affected by domestic violence\, to provide the support and safety they need. You can read more about the work Harbour do here. \nIf you are a member of the public who would like to reserve a space for the performance\, please go to the site below and select the ‘Performance Only’ booking option. \nhttps://www.dur.ac.uk/conference.booking/details/?id=985
